Bluffton Township Fire District’s Maintenance and Fire Training Facility Grand Opening
The Grand Opening was held on Wednesday, 2/15/2017. Fire Chief John Thompson provided welcoming comments followed by Deputy Chief Paul Boulware, Battalion Chief Steve McKinley and Joe Fraser, President of Fraser Construction.
It was a well attended event and elected officials from the Town of Bluffton and Beaufort County were acknowledged.
The new facility was dedicated to Robert (Bob) Rogers, Bluffton Township Fire District Board of Director, 1998 – 2015. Mr. Rogers began his service to the Bluffton Community on May 1, 1995 as a volunteer firefighter. On December 14, 1998 he was appointed to the Bluffton Township Fire Board where he served until his untimely death on November 20, 2015. His wife Vera and son Robert were presented a plague in honor of his dedicated life of service to the District.
The ceremony concluded with a ribbon cutting by Mrs. Vera Rogers.
This project was implemented using the design-build method of project delivery. Key members of the project delivery team were staff of the BTFD (Owner), Fraser Construction (Design-Builder/General Contractor), Court Atkins Group (Architect) and Ward Edwards (Civil Engineer).
